• Emirati Children’s Day – Festival Scenic Design & Fabrication, Abu Dhabi (2018)

Evolution Scenic custom backdrop for the Bullying Prevention Award presentation stage.

Children’s events require environments that are visually engaging, easy to navigate and flexible enough to support different activities throughout the programme. Scenic design plays an important role in creating that sense of discovery while providing practical spaces for workshops, entertainment and formal ceremonies.

For Emirati Children’s Day 2018 at Umm Al Emarat Park in Abu Dhabi, Evolution Scenic was entrusted with the design and production of the festival environment and awards ceremony for the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

The project combined workshop spaces, activity areas, family hospitality zones, bespoke signage, stage scenery and a large suspended feature prop, all delivered within a demanding production timeline.

Emirati Children’s Day scenic activity bay fabricated from MDF and plywood panels.

    The Challenge

The event brought together educational workshops, creative activities, family areas, media requirements and a formal awards ceremony within one programme.

Each environment needed its own purpose and visual identity while remaining connected to the wider festival experience. The awards ceremony also required a more formal setting for the presentation of the Council’s Bullying Prevention Award, with seating for 200 attendees.

With a tight production schedule, Evolution Scenic needed to coordinate the fabrication and installation of multiple bespoke elements across the venue while ensuring everything was completed in time for the event.

    The Solution

Evolution Scenic designed and produced a series of environments tailored to the different activities taking place throughout Emirati Children’s Day.

A dedicated festival area incorporated a tent for workshops alongside custom activity spaces and an outdoor environment with food and beverage services and family seating. Individual workshop areas featured bespoke backdrops and interactive elements, creating distinctive spaces for educational and artistic activities.

A dedicated media area was supported by custom signage to improve visibility and accessibility, while bespoke wayfinding and event signage were installed across the wider venue.

For the awards ceremony, Evolution Scenic transformed the conference centre with a custom stage backdrop, event branding and seating for 200 guests, providing a more formal environment for the recognition programme.

One of the project's defining scenic features was a giant paper aeroplane prop, fabricated as a large-scale visual installation and suspended from the ceiling. The piece created an immediate focal point while adding a playful element appropriate to the children's event.

The exhibition area needed to accommodate six diamond sponsors and 30 additional sponsors while maintaining a clear and cohesive visual identity. At the same time, the venue required a strong central stage, breakout presentation areas, an impactful arrival sequence and consistent branding throughout.

Because the event served as a major platform for industrial development and investment, the scenic environment also needed to feel contemporary, high-profile and aligned with the forum’s wider message of innovation and manufacturing progress.

    The Solution

Evolution Scenic developed the overall event concept and delivered the scenic environment as a coordinated turnkey package.

Forced-perspective design techniques were incorporated into the wider visual approach to increase depth and strengthen the impact of key scenic features.

A dedicated exhibition area was designed and fabricated to accommodate six diamond sponsors and 30 additional sponsors. The layout balanced sponsor visibility with visitor movement and created a consistent framework across the different exhibition spaces.

A bespoke main stage was delivered as the central presentation environment, supported by additional breakout stages for smaller sessions and discussions.

At the arrival point, Evolution Scenic created a custom entry arch incorporating dynamic content, establishing a strong first impression and introducing the visual language of the event from the outset.

  • LIV Golf Riyadh – Scenic Entrances & Interactive Fan Installations, Riyadh (2025)

Daytime view of the scenic entrance portal and circular rotating golf-ball feature.

Major sporting events rely on strong arrival experiences and memorable fan activations to establish energy from the first point of contact. For the first-ever LIV Golf event in Riyadh, Evolution Scenic designed and fabricated a series of high-impact scenic environments and interactive installations that combined bold branding, immersive lighting and audience engagement.

The scope included a custom main entrance feature, a branded wayfinding tower, an immersive IBC container maze and an interactive putting activation. Across these elements, the project brought together scenic fabrication, branded structures, controlled lighting and experiential design to create a visually striking event environment aligned with the LIV Golf identity.

    The Challenge

The event required multiple scenic and experiential elements to work together as one cohesive branded environment while also serving different operational and visitor functions.

The main entrance needed to deliver a strong first impression, combining architectural treatment, scenic branding and lighting with a central focal feature. Elsewhere across the site, additional installations needed to support wayfinding, visitor immersion and interactive participation.

Each element also required a distinct technical and fabrication approach. ACP cladding, scaffolding integration, DMX-controlled lighting, LED systems, Resolume-driven effects and interactive scenic features all had to be incorporated into installations that were visually consistent and engaging for attendees.

    The Solution

Evolution Scenic designed and built the main entrance experience around the supplied scaffolding structure, cladding it in ACP to create a more refined and event-specific architectural finish. DMX-controlled signage and accent lightboxes were integrated into the entrance to strengthen visibility and deliver a more dynamic arrival experience.

At the centre of the entrance composition, a branded 2-metre golf ball was mounted on a rotation system within a custom-fabricated roundabout structure, creating a clear focal point that reinforced the event identity. The entrance floor was painted in a striped pattern and carefully matched to the client’s Pantone colours to extend the branded treatment across the full arrival zone.

For The Range Sign, Evolution Scenic constructed a 6-metre-high branded scaffolding tower incorporating a fully DMX-controlled lightbox. This functioned as both a wayfinding element and a large-format scenic branding feature.

The IBC Maze was developed as an immersive walkthrough installation using IBC containers fitted with custom LED lighting systems. These were controlled via Resolume, allowing colour changes and dynamic visual effects to animate the space and enhance the visitor journey.

Within the IBC maze, Evolution Scenic also developed The 19th Hole Experience, an interactive putting game that introduced an additional layer of audience participation and experiential engagement.

    Delivery Highlights

  • Forever Valentino Exhibition – Scenic Fabrication & Exhibition Build, Doha (2022)

Structural steel fabrication integrated into the Forever Valentino exhibition architecture.

Luxury exhibitions demand an exceptional level of precision because architecture, display systems, structure, lighting and scenic finish all contribute to how the collection is experienced. For the Forever Valentino Exhibition at M7 in Doha, Evolution Scenic collaborated with Kennedy London to fabricate and install a complex series of scenic environments celebrating Valentino Garavani’s career and the architectural influence of Rome.

The project combined multi-room exhibition fabrication, large-scale architectural structures, sculptural reproductions, bespoke display systems, illuminated ceiling treatments, custom signage and engineered steelwork. Delivery also required fabrication drawings, structural calculations and the transport of 15 trucks of scenic materials from the UAE to Qatar.

    The Challenge

The exhibition required a series of highly detailed spaces capable of presenting Valentino’s collections within an immersive architectural narrative inspired by Rome.

Each room needed to function as part of a continuous visitor journey while also providing a distinct setting for curated pieces. The scenic package ranged from refined display joinery and suspended signage to major architectural features and heavy structural steelwork.

A key technical challenge was the fabrication of a 6-ton Gasometer-inspired steel structure, which required detailed fabrication drawings and structural calculations before manufacture and installation.

The project also involved significant cross-border logistics, with 15 trucks of fabricated scenic materials transported from the UAE to Qatar. This required careful coordination between workshop production, packing, transport and on-site installation.

    The Solution

Evolution Scenic delivered a broad fabrication and installation package across the exhibition’s multiple rooms and display environments.

A large Colosseum-inspired structure was fabricated and installed as one of the exhibition’s principal architectural features, providing a dramatic environment for the presentation of Valentino’s collections.

For the Gasometer-inspired installation, Evolution Scenic developed fabrication drawings and structural calculations to support the manufacture of the 6-ton steel structure. The scale and weight of the installation required scenic fabrication to be closely integrated with structural engineering and installation planning.

The exhibition also featured sculptural reproductions of Mitoraj works. These three-dimensional forms were recreated using fibre tissue material and mounted on MDF plinths, providing sculptural focal points within the visitor journey.

Custom wooden display shelves were fabricated with a powder-coated finish to create precise, durable presentation surfaces for curated pieces.

Overhead, a bespoke ceiling installation combined metal framing and polycarbonate sheets with DC 24V multicoloured LED lighting and backlit printed fabric. The resulting treatment created a dramatic sky-like effect and introduced another immersive layer to the exhibition environment.

Multi-coloured acrylic signage and suspended scenic elements were also fabricated, with steel wire ropes used to support selected installations. Across the wider exhibition, numerous bespoke exhibit and display spaces were constructed to meet the detailed requirements of the overall design.

Ideas festivals need environments that encourage conversation, discovery and collaboration among audiences with different interests and backgrounds. For the 2019 Ideas Festival at NYU Abu Dhabi, Tamkeen commissioned Evolution Scenic to create an engaging event environment centred on culture, knowledge and innovation.

The festival welcomed adults, teenagers and young professionals while providing a platform for thinkers, innovators and influencers from the UAE, the GCC and beyond.

Evolution Scenic designed and fabricated large-scale artistic installations combining geometric timber structures with vibrant graphics. Multi-functional scenic spaces were also created for discussions, workshops and networking activities.

    The Challenge

The event environment needed to appeal to a broad audience while supporting several different forms of participation. Discussions, workshops, networking and informal interaction each required spaces suited to their specific purpose.

The scenic design also needed to communicate Abu Dhabi’s identity as a modern, knowledge-driven capital while celebrating UAE culture and the city’s growing role as a centre for creativity and innovation.

These ideas had to be translated into visually distinctive structures without limiting the flexibility required by the festival programme.

  • Atlantis The Royal Grand Reveal – Bespoke Scenic Fabrication, Dubai (2023)

Branded registration counter with acrylic panels and precision-applied vinyl graphics.

Luxury opening events require scenic fabrication to complement the character of the venue while introducing distinctive moments of branding, art and guest engagement.

From 20 to 22 January 2023, Atlantis The Royal marked its grand opening on Palm Jumeirah with an exclusive event attended by VIP guests and international celebrities.

Evolution Scenic fabricated and installed a collection of bespoke scenic features across the hotel. The delivery included a large freestanding 818 Tequila bottle sculpture, custom scenic structures, precision metalwork, acrylic and vinyl branding elements and tailored fabric installations.

    The Challenge

The scenic package needed to complement the scale and architectural character of Atlantis The Royal without competing with the hotel’s existing design.

Each installation required a refined finish suitable for a luxury environment. This applied equally to sculptural pieces, structural metalwork, branded panels and textile features.

The freestanding 818 Tequila bottle presented a specific fabrication challenge. Its large scale required a lightweight internal form with sufficient reinforcement to remain stable and durable during the event.

Tight production deadlines and late-stage adjustments also required the team to adapt fabrication details while protecting the quality and consistency of the finished installations.

    The Solution

Evolution Scenic fabricated a large-scale freestanding sculpture based on an 818 Tequila bottle. The core form was produced from expanded polystyrene and reinforced with fibreglass to combine low weight with greater strength.

Detailed scenic painting recreated the bottle’s visual characteristics and provided a durable finished surface suitable for prominent display.

Additional large-scale scenic structures were produced for locations throughout the hotel. Their proportions, materials and finishes were developed to sit comfortably within the venue’s luxury interiors.

Precision metalwork provided both decorative and functional components across the installation. High-resolution printed panels, acrylic branding features and vinyl graphics introduced visual identity without compromising the overall scenic finish.

Custom drapery and textile installations added softness, texture and depth to selected spaces.

CNC routing and laser-cutting technologies were used where accurate profiles, repeatable components and precise detailing were required. The team adjusted production in response to late changes and completed the scenic package within the available programme.
